Sex on demand, darling, does not mean his demand

Let me describe a bedroom to you, darling. The one I suspect you already have.
The rules are framed. The device is on. The schedule lives on a calendar only you have access to. He kneels when invited, asks before approaching, waits in the corner you sent him to like a well-mannered guest at a party he isn’t yet allowed to join. By every visible standard, the dynamic is designed.
And yet. Pour yourself something and consider, for the length of the glass, when you last finished a sentence about him that wasn’t, somehow, about his release schedule.
His unlocking date. His Locktober count. The careful weighing of how long, how often, how generously. Somewhere between this Christmas and the last one, his denial became the most thoroughly discussed houseplant in the home. You are, technically, in charge of it. You are, technically, enjoying it.
You are also, technically, the one doing all the work.
Sex on demand, redefined
Here is the phrase, properly placed.
In a Level 1 household, “sex on demand” is the punchline of a Cosmo article: a man’s appetite obliged, the woman in a strappy thing being amused at his enthusiasm. In a Level 3 or 4 household, the phrase has to be turned, gently, the other way up.
Not his demand, indulged on a schedule.
Yours, as the standing weather.
The vanilla bookshop sells you “She Comes First” as a thoughtful suggestion for foreplay. Darling, in this house, it is the job description. She comes first because the room exists for her to do so. She comes last for the same reason. What happens in between, if anything, depends entirely on whether she fancies.
How the drift happens
The drift begins, predictably, with the device. The device goes on. The conversation about the device follows. Then the conversation about the unlocking, then the polite intercession about good behaviour and how it might affect the matter. Before long, the entire vocabulary of the bedroom has reorganised itself, with great care, around the management of his readiness.
Edging joins the act. Denial joins the act. The carefully measured permission to come joins the act. All proper practices. All features of a designed dynamic. And all capable of becoming, by quiet inches, the thing the dynamic is about.
The device started as a piece of household furniture, the way a coat rack is. Now it is the centre of the conversation, in the way a Christmas tree is.
The clue is when the question of his release is asked more often, in your own head, than the question of what you might like, this evening, when the bath is run.
Three tells you are managing him
First tell. Verbal. You are discussing his pent-upness, in your head or aloud with a confidante, with the same project-management seriousness as his work calendar. You have, somewhere, a mental Gantt chart. It is colour-coded.
Second tell. Structural. You find yourself granting where once you wanted. The event is initiated because he has earned it, or because the calendar prompted you, or because he has been good and the bedroom is the reward shelf. Granting is generous. Granting is not, however, fancying.
Third tell. The evening itself. When something does happen, the rhythm, the duration, the closing moves are all keyed to his pleasure or his denial. Somehow, foreplay in your bedroom has become whatever counts as a reward for him.
If you recognise one, the article is for you. If you recognise three, the article is overdue.
His denial, his event
Now, darling, for the harder line.
A man can be locked, edged, observed, scheduled, denied to within an inch of his sanity, and still be running the bedroom. The mechanism is not subtle. The engine of the dynamic, in his head and in yours, has quietly become his interest in his own denial. The chastity is his scene. The edging is his game. The schedule is the gripping serial drama he is starring in, especially when the episode ends with him not finishing it.
This is the man who has designed his own submission. He read the forums. He picked the device. He drafted the rules. He produced, with great care, the world’s most elaborate kink and persuaded you to play stage manager.
It isn’t service. It is theatre with you as the lead patron.
The man genuinely at her sexual service is recognisable by a different quality, which is mostly the absence of any. He is available. He is uncomplicated. He does not require a schedule of his own. He is, if you will permit me, on tap.
Retrieval, without the project
You do not retrieve the arrangement, my darling, by adding rules. You retrieve it by removing one variable from the equation. Specifically: the question of his mood.
His readiness is permanent and unconditional. It is not announced. It is not negotiated. It is not in the running to be earned. It is the standing condition of the household, like the kettle in the kitchen and the gin in the freezer. You did not promise the kettle a release date. You did not consult the gin about its schedule.
If you would like, on a Sunday evening, after a long bath, in no particular hurry, to be attended to with the slow seriousness of a man who has nowhere else to be, you are. If you would not, you are not, and he is not in the wings being noble about it.
No project. No announcement. Just a quiet correction of the equation: his appetite leaves the room as a topic of conversation, and yours, finally, returns as the one that matters.
Sunday evening, then. The gin. Your bath running. He knows exactly where to be.

Very apt Miss Cat. Thank you for posting.
Woman’s pleasure should become a non-negotiable priority for the boy. Otherwise appropriate punishment should be administered. If my boy fails to satisfy me in bed at times, I immediately order 100 sit-ups and he gets several sticks on his palms too. Now he is much better as he fears punishment.
For the accommodating wife who enters this style of relationship at the request of her husband, the drift you’ve described is an obvious trap. Would you recommend sharing this article with her including the further reading (the first link anyway)?
I feel that some men would be happy with the arrangement you’ve described up to the point she gets fed up and just wants to go back to how it was before he brought it up, which will probably happen sooner or later.
The other group of men would want her to step into her power, steer her towards living authentically in the lifestyle. One risk is he may be perceived to be TFTB, when if fact he is trying not to.
I would be interested in hearing others’ thoughts or experiences of this sort of issue. What happened and how was it resolved? Thank you!
